Eight Arrested at Bank of New York!

8 animal rights activist were arrested in New Brunswick New Jersey around 1:00PM this afternoon after allegedly staging a demonstration at the Bank of New York.

Upon leaving the demonstration the 8 were detained by the police and then arrested for a host of offenses. They are being charged with :

Disorderly Persons
Disorderly Conduct
Harassment
Criminal Mischief (felony)
Trespass
Endangerment of Persons

Two juveniles have been released, but the remaining six have had their bail reduction hearing and are being held on $25,000.00 bail. They will have their arraignment Tuesday.

They are being transfered to the Middlesex County Adult Correction Facility. Please call (732) 297-3636 to make sure they are provided a vegan diet.

According to reports on the scene, one even from a police officer, the charges are completely trumped up. In order to have criminal mischief charges there must be at least $5000 in damage done, and according to the activists at the bank now, there is nothing out of the ordinary about the bank (aside for the police buzzing around trying to feel important.)

HLS is one of the biggest tax payers in this county and we expected no less from the crooked cops and judge. This arrest and the phony charges was not a wise move for HLS and it demonstrates they have no understanding of political movements as these repressive tactic will only serve to inspire people to go underground with their protests if they are harassed when legally trying to demonstrate for change.

Reports coming back from other groups across the State have been positive as number of HLS's customers and financiers have found themselves subjects of rather noisy and disruptive demonstrations. A full list of protest sites is being compiled and will be posted soon.

Right now all demonstrators are converging at the laboratory and are to show HLS that we will no longer let the suffering of the animal victims in the cages go unheard. We are shutting HLS down!
