Chico McDonalds Targetted by A.L.F.
Chico,
CA - The Animal
Liberation Front (A.L.F.) targetted a McDonald's restaurant in
Chico, California (at Palmetto and Mangrove). McDeath got a face lift as activists
redecorated it with the slogans "Meat is Murder," "Species Equality,"
and "Animal Liberation Front." Two unlit incendiary
devices were found beside the building as well, perhaps as a warning of
things yet to come.
McDonald's is notorious for its poor track record supporting of supporting factory farming, as well as environmental degradation, and the exploitation of its workers. The text of the communique from the action follows:
"On March 3rd, 2003 at approximately 3:00am, two incendiary devices were placed at a McDonalds restaurant in Chico California. We wanted to communicate this letter to mass media as well as underground sources for a couple of reasons. First, we want to make it clear that this is not an attempt to attract media. We just feel that the explanation should come from us so the media knows exactly what our intentions are. We don't want to be mis-quoted like so many other cells have been in the past.
McDonalds has been targeted because of their prevlanet connection to the factory farming industry. McDonalds is the world's largest user of beef. Not to mention that in order to rear the amount of cattle, ex-rainforest land is used for pasture that prevents the regneration of forests and kills many more unique species. Meat production is also extremely wasteful in end product terms-145 million tons of grain is fed to livestock, which produces 21 tons of meat. The animals used to manufacture McDonalds meat products are intensively farmed. This means that they can spend their entire lives without seeing naturdal daylight, bred in overcrowded conditions and their movement is restricted. These are just a few of many reasons why McDonalds must be shut down. We seek complete liberation of all animals from the hands of human exploitation. When is the meat eating public going to realize that selling measly veggie burgers is not enough? The speciesist attitude of the meat eating society also needs to stop. We have no compromise and we will not stop till all the animals are free to live a happy life and all the abusers discontiue their senseless murder!!!"
